Solar water heaters can save you a world of troubles. They can also save you a lot of money. The great thing about solar water heating is that they save the environment while benefitting you too.

Did you know that a four-person household with an electric water heater needs about 6,400 kilowatt hours of electricity per year just to heat the water? That type of electricity is generated by a typical power plant with an efficiency of 30 percent. The average electric water heater creates eight tons of carbon dioxide every year. That is double what a car makes. They pollute unfortunately and they should start to be replaced.

Take Bigger Steps to Protect the Environment With Solar Power for Your Home

Many people who are concerned about the environment want to find ways that they can reduce the carbon footprint of their home. Although it may seems a small drop in the ocean, there is clearly a logic in the argument that if all of us do a little to reduce our use of harmful fossil fuels then eventually that will add up to a big change.

Many people start off by undertaking practical measures such as turning off the lights when they leave the room, fitting energy efficient light bulbs and turning down the heating a notch or two. These are all good practical steps, and I would not put you off doing any of them. However if you want to make big reductions in your use of polluting fuels such as, oil and coal, you best approach is to switch your energy usage over to renewable energy sources.
